Economic System
All students apply for jobs twice a year. Jobs are assigned to the most qualified students for that job. Each job pays $250 a month. Students also have to pay rent for their desks, which is $100 a month. We have monthly auctions where students can purchase items and bid on them. Students may earn money by having good behavior, making good choices, and working hard. Students may also lose money by not completing homework and by not following classroom and school rules. The fines may be as low as $5 or may increase depending on the behavior.
Homework
Homework is given daily. We all write our daily homework in our planners at the same time. Full credit is given to completed and on-time homework. If a homework assignment is late one day, students may earn half credit. Homework later than one day will not receive points.
Tests
Students are given notice of tests one to two weeks prior to the test (unless it's a pop-quiz). Students are required to write test dates into their planners. Most tests are open book and open notes.
Dojo
We are excited to have class Dojos in our class. Each student gets assigned an avatar. The avatar may earn points by being on task, having homework completed, following direcitons quickly...The avatars are displayed on the smartboard and students get to add points to their avatars!
Planners
It is the students responsibility to write in their planners daily. The homework is posted on the white board and on the smartboard. Parents need to check their students planners each night and initial. This helps communicate to the teacher that parents are aware of the daily assignments.
Missed Assignments
If your child is out sick they will have an opportunity to make up class work and homework.
Jupiter Grades
Make sure you check jupitergrades often! If there are any questions about grades/assignments please feel free to contact us.
Accelerated Reader (AR)
All students have AR goals. If students meet their goal, we celebrate with a pizza party! You can track AR points by going to Nordstrom's website and clicking on Accelerated Reader.
